I'm slangin' pillow pets...

So I've been sitting here trying to write a post all about how crazy life has been lately, but I keep on getting distracted....by these...

{They're a pillow. They're a pet. They're a pillow pet!}

See, these are right up there with Crocs. One of those things that I swore my kids would NEVER own...*cough*cough*...yeah, about that. I'm pretty sure that Boogie still wears his friggin rubber clogs EVERY DAY, much to my dismay. And now here I am at midnight searching the internet for these dang pillow pet things. I cave so easily.

But here's the thing...The Dude has been asking for one for MONTHS. Every time I turn on the TV I hear that friggin jingle....like nails on a chalk board...it's a pillow, it's a pet, it's a pillow pet! GAH! I don't know what it is about these dang things, but they have some kind of unbreakable hold on my children. Every time the commercial comes on they stop what they're doing and start staring...and drooling....and of course BEGGING. And not just a little begging...I mean the "if we don't get this pillow our childhood is going to be completely ruined and we'll go into deep dark depressions and live with you for the rest of our lives and become hoarders because we'll be too afraid to go out into the world because we never had a pillow/pet to snuggle with and you'll pretty much be the worst parents ever" kind of begging. No pressure or anything.

I mean they are kind of cute...but I don't know...you can't trust these eyes. Is it just me, or are they saying...BUY ME OR DIE!!!!!

Anyone else pick up on that?? I'm telling you these things are like crack to kids!! They just have to get their fix. All across the world there are children rocking in corners holding their pillow pets tight...getting their daily snuggle fix. It's a sickness I tell you! And I'm totally the enabler because by the time you read this I'll probably be at the mall picking up some pillow pets. Yup, I'm like the Dina Lohan of pillow pets...just getting my kids their fix.

Happy Friday Amigos!! TGIF!

  1. LOL I have never seen these "pillow pets" before now. They are kind of cute and if you want to put some logic into it - think of it like this - they won't pee or poop or stink up the house and you don't have to walk them or feed and water them either! And the best part is that you will officially be the "coolest" mom evah! So yep - go get those babies their fix - it will be the easiest pet you ever own! :o) Love ya! Happy Friday my peep! xoxoxo

  2. Haha, never heard of pillow pets but if the kid wants one, just buy it. I firmly believe in spoiling the shit of children. Pray I don't have any of my own though. ;)

  3. My daughter has the lady bug and my son has the puppy :) They may be like crack for kids, but at least they don't look as stupid as crocs do. LOL And yes, my kids own crocs too, even though I hate them!

  4. You are too funny! I'm so glad my kids know better than to ask me for crap they see on tv! I actually saw a Pillow Pet store in Vail last time we were there and the things are cute, I have to admit. Can't wait to see your kids cheesing it up with their new PP's! (umm Pillow Pets for short...)

  7. My nieces both wanted the lady bug one for their bdays when I went to Toys R Us the chick there said they sell out as soon as new shipments arrive and people will wait for the truck to show up. WTF?! I don't get it.

  9. My children will be in therapy because I refuse to let them get those shoes with the roller skates built in. I hate them!

  10. I think these are much more adorable than Crocs. Crocs are the Mario Lopez of shoes.

  11. Alyssa has a horsey pillow pet. She loved it for about 5 seconds, now it's somewhere under her bed.

  18. Hilarious! I totally fail to see the allure of these little things. I mean . . . isn't it just a glorified stuffed animal? The only one that actually looks like a pillow to me is the ladybug--ha! I suppose there are much worse things your kiddos could be coveting. Like Barney dvds or Bieber cds or vodka.

  19. Well "Dina" I think we're both the same... I caved in for Crocs and I'll probably cave for these pillow/animal things!?
You're not alone. And No your kids won't be showing up on "Hoarders" in about 20 years....

  20. I find myself singing that during the day and I curse the commercial. Luckily, it hasn't been requested at our house...yet. Hmmmm, wonder which one(s) you'll choose.

  21. Um...I saw that and thought, "I must have it!"

If I had seen that when I was 3-17, it would've been a much louder, more vocal story.

  22. i find them as cute as telletubbies.not.
    but hey...what do i know!

  23. My nephew just got one but it's an ugly patriotic one.

  24. I've never heard of them! They are cute. I was crazy for Pound Puppies, Cabbage Patch, and Garbage Pail Kid cards :) I still smile when I see these things and bought a pack of cards a few years back for fun :)

At least they're not begging for cell phones yet!

  25. My dude goes bonkers for them too. I keep meaning to order one!

  26. My oldest bugs me every dang time she sees the commercial if I will buy her one....I never caved on the Crocs and Im holding strong on the dang pillow pet

  27. I think I need one of those. Ay, caramba! The older I get, the younger I feel...

    ReplyDelete
  28. OMG those things are weird and scary. I'm so happy the twins are little and they can't ask for one. Hopefully by the time they are older those things are going to be non existent! lol

  29. hahah pillow pets seem pretty damn bomb to me- would you judge me if I wanted one??? The Dude has style!

  31. Logan wants one so bad but I'm the terrible mom who said no. He has a huge pile of stuffed animals in his room that he never pays any attention to and I'm not interested in adding another. But the damn commercial comes on all the time!!!

  32. How is it I missed all these posts?
Do NOT tell my kids about pillow pets they have enough crap they love and leave far to fast, I can do without the need for my child to lay his head down on a bumble bee!

  33. Oh my goodness, I want the bee (and I'm almost 26)!!!
