Dear Mason...

Wow...I can't believe it's been 6 years already. It feels like it was only yesterday I was caressing my tummy in awe as your little feet kicked and your tiny hands punched. You were always an active one, you know that? It's been 6 years since you've let mommy sleep! It feels like only yesterday that I was so so so scared because you were going to change my life forever. You did baby, did you know that? You took everything I thought I had ever known and you threw it out the window!! We had to start over from scratch, just you and I. And you know what? You made me a mommy! Did you know that baby? The day I had you, I became a mommy. Your mommy.

I used to love putting your little baby hair into the cutest little mohawk. And you used to sleep in my arms every single night. You were my own little teddy bear. My favorite thing to do was to just watch you grow up. In the blink of an eye you went from crawling to running and you've never slowed down!

I can't imagine what the last 6 years would be like without your sweet little face and your cute little voice. I can't imagine the last 6 years without you calling me Mommy, or saying I love you. I can't imagine the last 6 years without you driving me NUTS and making me cry from laughter. I can't imagine the last 6 years without you.

We are so proud of you little man! You are such a good example to boogie and sissy. And you make us so happy every single day. We are so lucky to be your parents and to have you as our son. We love you so much Mason!!

Q & A time....part 2!

I have to admit, it's fun doing a little Q & A...get to know each other a little bit more. The fact that you guys are still here and I haven't scared you off says a lot about you! Masochists...I mean FRIENDS! Obviously you're all as crazy as I am. So I had a blast reading through your questions and it was hard to pick a few to answer, but here goes!! Let's dive into the mind of a freak show!

Q- Are you planning on having anymore babies or are you at your limit?

A- Ohhhh...good one. We're done. I'M done. I have been truly blessed to be able to have 3 healthy babies without complications. I love being a mother. But...I also know my limits (and I'm fresh out of sanity and patience). Part of me would LOVE to have more children. There's definitely a part of me that craves the entire experience all over again....crazy talk!! However, being a single mom for over 2 years and having 3 kids by the time I was 25 hasn't been the easiest thing. It's been incredibly rewarding and rich, but also very tough and trying. I'm happy with 3. We have a good life and at this time we really feel like our family is complete. While I don't see myself having any more kids I would LOVE to be a foster parent down the road. Thanks Amy at Just Add Walter for asking!

Q- How did you and the hubs hook up? Where did you meet... love at first sight??

A- I LOVE talking about this one! But I'll try and contain myself! 30 second version. He stalked me for a year (I had NO clue who he was), he finally emailed me a year later out of the blue, we first met at Chuck E Cheese and were married 55 days later. We got married on a random Tuesday night by Jordan's dad and celebrated with Costco sheet cake, Chinese food, and a select few of our loved ones. And NO I wasn't pregnant. HAA! True Story. And yes....for me it was love at first sight. I knew I was going to marry him and have never had a doubt. In case you feel like reading a little more, I did write a bit more about it here. I hope you're all having an awesome Thanksgiving break!! By the time this posts I'll still be on 'vacation' probably ready to stab myself in the eye with a dull pencil...gotta love road trips! Its probably safe to say that at this point I'm probably having massive blog withdrawal and missing you all like crazy too. Geez...I'm gonna need a vacation from my vacation...

It's not even Thanksgiving yet but EVERY WHERE I look its already decked out in Christmas. What the freak is that all about?! We haven't even carved the turkey and I've got jingle bells playing on the friggin' radio! Ridiculous! BUT you guys are in luck...I'm here to offer my gift giving services...Mmmhhmm. A little advice for those hard-to-shop-for folks in your life. Here ya go...

Wednesday can suck it!

Today has definitely been one of 'those' days. I actually feel like yesterday never ended because the little miss was up ALL FLIPPIN NIGHT with the worst gas known to man. I have no clue what the freak she ate, let's just hope for the love of all things good that she NEVER eats it again. I mean, as much as I love having a Murder,She Wrote marathon with her until 2 in the morning I love sleeping in my warm bed and dreaming about funnel cake even more. Then there's the fact that Jordan woke me up telling me he had to go to the ER for his neck. Couldn't he have waited until after the sun came up to tell me? Ruuude. But several inflamed spinal discs, a couple bottles of muscle relaxers, and one shot on the BUTT later, he's good to go....BWAA!!! Sucks for him!! How a hurt neck leads to a shot on the butt, I have no clue, but that's AWESOME! HA! Oh, but I hope you're feeling better honey..really...*snicker*...I'll try to refrain from spanking you today.

Oh, then there's the fact that Mason was a half hour late to school. Yeah. Mother of the year right here folks. Don't all congratulate me at once. But it's ok that he's late. We already had the conference! And let me tell you it was a doozy....

For starters, I brought Jordan as back up. You know, in case she tried the intimidation factor on me, I'd just blind her with his beauty. It must have worked wonders because according to her, Mason is doing AWESOME! Hallelujah! Insert sigh of relief here. He's gone up 6 reading levels and is really thriving. Academically he is doing wonderfully. Heck yeah! That's because he's my mini-me...friggin smart cookie that's what he is!! THEN she goes on to tell me that he loves reading in class and that he'll often times go sit and read quietly during free time. Uhh...ok..now she must be confused. Surely not our child. Sit and read....quietly?? No, not him. THEN she tells me that the kids just love him and that he rarely has any peer conflicts. HA! No. Nope. Uh-uh. She's not talking about Mason, the kids that can't go 7 seconds without fighting with his brother or attacking the dogs. You would think that I'd be thrilled to hear about all that, but NO. In fact I was friggin miffed! The more she gushed about him the more I was thinking WTF?! Who is this child she speaks of and how come he's not MINE??!! That's it, the little terd has shown his true colors. His secret has been revealed!!

Well on the bright side it looks like I get to keep the Target gift certificate. Score.

Breathe In, Breathe Out...

Dun dun duuuuunnn!! The moment of truth has arrived.

I'm just not sure I want to hear the truth!! But there's no getting out of it...today is Mason's first real PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE! ..well crap...Technically we had his first conference in kindergarten but it revolved mainly around finger painting and abc's and all that hoopla...this time it's the real deal.. SUCK! I don't think my frazzled nerves can take it! Can't I just send the teacher a note saying I know he's a crackhead, I'm sorry, here's a gift certificate to Target, go buy yourself something nice??

I mean, as much as I want to hear about how he sings Super Freak in class (true story...proud mother right here), shakes his booty then tells the teacher he's 'dropping it like its hot', and kisses the ladies on the playground, I'm not sure I can handle any surprises. Just sitting here typing about it is putting me on the verge of a panic attack! Because at the end of the day I'M responsible for that sweet little boy, and his mellow disposition....HAAA!!! Who am I kidding?? Mellow my arse! He's about as calm as I am patient. That kid is a flippin' mini-me, it's all my fault. Thank goodness for Ritalin is all I can say. I don't think there's anything his teacher could say that would surprise me. I just hope that he hasn't scarred her too badly. Maybe I should forget the Target gift certificate and get her therapy sessions instead.

Fingers are crossed. I'm praying everything goes well. Wish us luck!

Q & A time!

Well no one died this weekend, so all in all it was a success. And now that my heart rate has finally slowed down a touch and my hands aren't shaking uncontrollably I can finally type! But let me tell you that red bull mixed with a little bit of orange juice....mmmmm....breakfast of champions!! And while I'd like to say that huffing red bull in the corner was the highlight of my weekend, it wasn't! WHAT?! You heard me....there was something BETTER!

I'll give you a clue....starts with an I ends with an -ndianapolis Colts beating the Patriots!!!! BOOYA SUCKERS! Victory is sweet!! Ok, now that I've got that out of my system I thought we'd do a little getting to know you. I love when people ask me random questions so I thought heck, why not share it with the whole world! The first question comes from a special gal, near and dear to my heart, the one and only Liz over at It's Unbeweavable! LOVE HER! And she asks...(Disclaimer: TOTALLY her words, not mine!)

Q- "My darling Alicia, I've been asking you for months how you manage to always look so fabulous and put together and HOT while you're chasing after 3 kids, please share your secrets. I'm taking notes."

A- Well crap. For starters, thank you! I'm so glad you think so! Photoshop works wonders!! HA! But the other moms in the drop off zone in front of the school may not agree with you though.. Lets just say I look a little rough in the morning! But if you want honest answers, here goes! As far as losing the baby weight I tribute it to good genes, Jillian Michaels 30 minute shred, and food allergies watching what I eat. I wish I had a better answer to that, but in all honesty I have my mother and major food allergies to thank for my fast metabolism!

And as far as my wardrobe goes, I've learned to embrace mother hood. I've learned that its totally do-able to mix comfort, practicality, and fashion, all while keeping it simple. Let's be honest, with 3 kids under 6 I'm not gonna be grocery shopping in a LBD and Loubies, and I'm sure as heck not getting spit up on them!So instead I like to put a little emphasis on cute, but comfortable footwear and fun accessories. Also wearing clothes that fit! We may not fit back into our pre-baby clothes and that's ok, but wearing clothes that don't fit isn't gonna do us any favors! However, most days you'll find me in jeans and a tee. I'm walking the park, not the runway. The most important thing to me is to have my hair done and a fresh face...but I'm not a make up fan, I keep in simple with eye-liner and mascara. I also think its important to remember that just because we're moms doesn't mean we can't take some time for ourselves! Spend the extra few minutes getting ready, doing your nails, the little things that are gonna give you that extra boost of confidence! At the end of the day, that self confidence is the most fabulous thing you could wear!!
