Dear Presley...Part 2

Dear Presley Rose,

I'm a little emotional right now, so I'm not quite sure how to put this....so I'll try to find the words as best as I can...

SWEET MOTHER OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN!! WHAT THE HECK DAUGHTER????

I leave for ONE day and you start saying DA-DA??!! One day. ONE DAY! After everything we've been through???

Have you forgotten that I gained WEIGHT for you! ... I gave BIRTH to you! ... I am your MOTHER!! And this is the thanks I get????

I didn't see Daddy sitting on ice packs wearing mesh pantaloons after calving a child!! Noooo siree...pretty sure that was me!

First thst mangy mutt, Duke, steals your first word, which was rightfully my spot, by the way! Yeah, I said it! THEN you start saying 'Hi', despite my efforts to hear your sweet voice say Mama...I just don't get it! What does he have that I don't?? Did he give you candy?... Ice cream?? ...Chocolate???

That must be it...he blinded you with delicious treats...it's the only explanation!! He played dirty and now he will pay the price! That heathen!! He's going down!

Do the last 9 months mean nothing to you?? I thought I knew you better than that, Little Miss. I guess I was wrong! I suppose I'll have to resign to the fact that I'm 4th on your list....hopefully. I knew this day would come....I just didn't think it would be so soon. I suppose I'll have to just accept the fact that you've become a.....*gulp*....Daddy's girl...sigh...

But don't think this is the last I'm gonna say about this!! Oh no no no young lady...I will deal with you, this was just the tip of the iceberg! In the meantime, I've gotta go deal with THIS guy...

{Oh, don't you look at me like that Mister! You know EXACTLY what you did! You criminal! You robber of all motherly happiness! You should be ASHAMED! Hmph!}

{And you! Well don't you think you can just smile at me and get away with all this....I'm upset! You cute little thing...ya hear that? Mommy's upset with your sweet little self...}

{Who am I kidding...how can I be mad at this? I guess I'll just have to change my name to Duke}

Love,
Mommy

pee ess....it was a wonderful weekend. full of uplifting moments and new friends! (love my banana!!) can't wait to tell you all about it...but just thought I'd let you know the kids were still alive.

  1. Yup. They'll dada til their wee hearts are content and you'll get a cursory 'mama' now and then. Such is life. Fickle I tell ya, fickle. ;O)

But so incredibly gorgeous, it's worth it. xx

  2. Awww! Dada always seems to be the hero!

  4. Glad you enjoyed your weekend. It's good to be a Daddy's girl.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I love your pictures! Don't be sad turn this around.....everytime she says DaDa tell your husband....she's calling for YOU!!

    ReplyDelete
  6. She's learning the early art of manipulation and winding daddy around her finger. It's a ploy, don't worry.

    ReplyDelete
  7. ha my nice calls dada, nana, brendan but no mama...mine...will have to see yet!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Y'know? I taught child development for years. I know 'da' is just an easier sound to make than 'ma'. I know this. This I know. And yet when my kids did it, it drove me up a tree. Stings a bit, no?

But you're right -she's WAY too cute for you to hold a grudge. Maybe you'll get the first "love you"...

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'm sad to say that this will not be the last time. It's only because she knows you'll always be there for her regardless, so that's a good thing. At least that's what I tell myself when my 1 year old clings to someone else and doesn't want me to take her !!! The wonderful emotions of motherhood ! She is ADORABLE !

    ReplyDelete
  10. Aww...my daughters first word was "mine". Forget mamam and dada.

    ReplyDelete
  11. i think you're one funny, funny gal! i'm glad i found your blog because you make me laugh. a lot!

  12. She's scrumdidlyluptious. What a cutie pie? Must be hard to be mad at that little face. At least her first word wasn't 'asshat'. Its said with such frequency in my house that I'm surprised our dog isn't saying it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh I'm feeling your pain. We only hear Momma around here when there is crying involved. Otherwise it's DAD DAD DAD. Urgh

    ReplyDelete
  14. Aww that's rough, I really do feel for you. I know it's no comparison but my name was the last one that my niece said. She was also saying my mom's dog name (Bailey) before she could say Aunt Shannon. I mean really it's not THAT hard. Maybe she's just saving the best for last!

    ReplyDelete
  15. you are soo funny girl- I know, that do that to us don't they?- she is SO PRECIOUS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. She is adorable and I'm sure mama will be next - or hopefully before her 6th word like my little one did to me. Now my twins had it right - MAMA was their first word!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm still working on "mama" with Toot...I've been trying the whole giving birth guilt treatment, so far no help. lol

    ReplyDelete
  18. awwwwww...YES! gimme more of that heavenly cuteness that is presley. i'm serious when i say I WANT HER!!! lol.

and don't worry, she'll be saying mama in no time and then you won't be able to get her to stop!

seriously LOVED meeting you! i hope that if and when i have kids, i am as adorable and honest as you.

OH AND...that bathroom pic. I DIE! best bathroom pic EVERRR!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. It's tough when they say DaDa first, but then they start to say mommy, and NEVER stop!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh just wait...there will come a day where you wish your name was DUKE! Momma....momma...momma...356 more times...ahhh! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Aww bless she is so gorgeous! And don't worry there will be a time when she won't stop saying mamma! :)

    SE x

    ReplyDelete
  22. My little girl called me Da Da for months. I read somewhere that babies can form the DA sound before they get the MA sound. Don't despair - it will happen, Mama!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ahhhhh. It's okay. She looks like she's gonna be a mama's girl. Once they learn to talk, you're gonna wish they couldn't. I don't know how many times my son will say Mommy in a given day. Probably at least 100. Ear muffs please!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yep, this happened to me too! My first said Da-da when he was 7 months old and didn't shut up about it until way after a year. When he finally slipped in a mama so casual like I almost missed it. Dangit!

    ReplyDelete
  25. We all end up a Daddy's Girl at sometime or another, don't we? Love the photos!

    ReplyDelete
  26. love her little bath robe, she is so precious! no way you could ever stay upset with her ;)
glad to hear all the kids were alive and well when you returned from your weekend away! hope it was a great one!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. she is way to adorable! So glad they are well, lol!! no way you can be upset with her precious self!! wayyy to cute!

    ReplyDelete
  28. glad the kids are still alive :) super cute pic's and the post cracked me up as usual. :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Maybe he misunderstood and she was actually trying to let him know she had filled her diaper by saying, "Ta da!"

    Just saying... it could happen.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I wanted my kids to say Da Dah first but there never did. The reason so in the middle of the night, they would call for him and not me. It has never worked.

    ReplyDelete
  31. oh no! Tristan said da-da first & both kids smiled at Anthony first...unfair. But don't worry, when she needs tampons, she'll definitely be saying mama not dada.

    ReplyDelete
  32. We're 14 months in and I've yet to hear a Mama thrown my way except in babbling, yet DADDY is shouted at the hubs all the time. What little ingrates we have. ah ha ha

    ReplyDelete
  33. my daughter did the same, only said DA-DA but once she figured out how to say MA-MA she refuses to say DA-DA at all. it's awesome. thanks for rubbing my blog! HA!

    ReplyDelete
  34. LOL Now you feel MY pain...my little dude didn't say mama until waaaaaaaaaaay later after he said like 5 other words. DaDa was his first word. Not fair. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  35. she is a doll! Glad you had a fab time!
    What's this about a banana?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I do not know, I am pretty sure my mom wished I had never learned Mom/mommy/mama.

I think the only thing that would make you feel better would be a pair of Louboutins ;)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I can't stand when my kids do that, don't they realize that Mom should be first. You can hold it over her as a weapon in your guilt arsenal when she's older:D

    ReplyDelete
  38. Same dang thing happened at our house with the youngest. I would sit and tell her mama all dang day and when she finally decides to say her first word? It was da-da. And then dog-dog, and then sissy, and then bubby (which she also calls her sister)...and then who knows what else. Now she is finally saying mommy or mama...except she calls everyone that

    ReplyDelete
  39. My dad won my son over. His first word was "Chi Chi" that is what we call my dad. Sorry to hear about her selling you out like that but glad to hear you had a good weekend ;)

    ReplyDelete
  40. She is just precious! My 1st son did the same thing....actually his first word was Kittie...followed by daddy and then I think Mama was riiiiggghhhtttt after BALL! Nice...you think he was making reference to the fact that I still LOOKED like a beach ball because of him? haha

    ReplyDelete
  41. hahah! you are cracking me up!

my 2 year old niece call's my sis (her mom) GA GA. so things could be worse.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Awww... just think, you can hold that over her FOREVER! muhahahah, "oh, how I pained for you... how I struggled... and you repaid me, how? How?" 'insert dramatic sigh and weep'

    ReplyDelete
  43. Heart.breaking.

I would have hate to missed the fact that she said DA-DA! But, I'm on the same page as you...WTHeck, Presley?! Doesn't your mother mean something to you???

    ReplyDelete
  44. How funny and sad...
Once they become daddy's girl it's hard to get them back! My only comfort is that when my princess became daddy's girl he got certain responsibilities. I tell my daughter:
    1. Wake up daddy in the middle of the night when you have peed in your bed. This applies for all kinds of night duties. He's your man!
    2. Let daddy brush your hair to get all the glitterglue out of it. He's got the magic touch.
    3. Daddy's really good at making your school lunch... and breakfast!
    4. Daddy will bring you and the girls to dance practice. A car full of screaming girls? He loves it!
    5. Threw up in the car? Who you gonna call... DADDY!

Well, as I say. With the title of FAVORITE comes responsibilities...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ahhh she's a cutie!!! She's saving the last for best for her first few words, Mama!

    ReplyDelete
  46. LOL "Sweet Mother of Abraham Lincoln"!? hahahaha.

    What was her name anyways?

Your precious little girlie is beyond cute...

    ReplyDelete
  47. Awwwww there's my girl!!!!!!!!! AND YOU, my other girl up in here...
"sitting on ice packs wearing mesh pantaloons"

Alicia stop it!!!!!! Is that a joke?! Actually, just tell me it is. OMG dude. :)

baby I'm amazed by youuuuuu...GOSSIP GIRL TONIGHT?!

    ReplyDelete
  48. LAME! that is totally lame, i going to say that chocolate was the motivator for suddenly saying that traitors name :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. You are such a good writer... the reference to the mesh pantaloons made me laugh!! And I cannot believe she is now on from Duke to Da-Da. But yeah... look at her. Doesn't seem possible to me mad at that cute little face...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Why do these things happen like this? I know I had to miss at least of few of B's first moments. Dang!

    ReplyDelete
  51. She is freakin preciois! :)
Please dont change your name to Duke, then I'll think about the dog from the bean commmercial, then of it farting...just dont do it...it wont be pretty : )

    ReplyDelete
  52. *holy spelling errors Batman..
I meant precious, commercial, & pretty

    ReplyDelete
  53. My son said Da-da first, too. I was so disappointed. I'm the one who spends every day, all day with him, and then he sees my husband come around the corner and says, "Dada!" What am I? Chopped baby food? I understand your pain. Since then my son has said "bird", "Pia", "up" and "so", but no "mama". I don't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I feel your pain! Despite hours (okay it was probably 10 minutes) of sitting in front of mine saying "Ma Ma Ma Ma Ma", he would just smile back at me and say "Da Da Da Da Da Da". I'm still not over it!

  59. Darn those Daddies...always trying to steal the spot light. My son who I thought would be a total momma's boy is a Daddies boy...seriously, son we shared a body..what's a momma gotta do?
I totally want to hear more about this banana....

    Smooches,
    Sassy Chica

    ReplyDelete
  60. Ice packs and pantaloons?

    That's great birth control!

    ReplyDelete
  61. You're so cute. Yeah, it's DEFINITELY unfair when the child's first word is for daddy. Mommy deserves that first word!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yeah, but now when she wakes up in the middle of the night, or too early in the morning, she's gonna be callin' "Da-Da!" And you get to roll over and say, "Honey. Presley wants you!"

    ReplyDelete
  63. Oh mom.....
    LOL

Love these two posts...and the pics of Presley Rose are oh so adorable.....love that bath towel.

Hope you and yours have had a beautiful day

    ReplyDelete
  64. Very funny! I am proud to say both my boys first word was ma!! I never did teach them da da. I figured the ass was on his own!!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Haha.

Well, I'm glad you had a great time at least.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I demand you take that man over your knee and give him a good licking for teaching her to say da da!

Lord knows what he promised her to get her to say his name first.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Goodness. You make cute ass babies.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Isn't that always the way? Da Da first... My baby girl did the SAME thing.

    ReplyDelete
  69. You can't be mad at that adorable girl for saying Da-Da but you surely can be mad at the Da-Da! hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  70. haha...and I am sure she MEANT to say MaMa!

    ReplyDelete
  71. She's soooo darling! and u crack me up as usual!!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Ahhhh, the mesh panties and ice packs. Don't you miss those? ;-)

Victorias Secret couldn't come up with something sexier.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hilarious! Really. All little girls are Daddy's Girls! It's nothing personal. :)

I always told myself it was that the D sound was phonetically easier for the little mouths to say than the Maaaaa sound! ;P

    ReplyDelete
  74. Aww I know how you feel. Out of FIVE children my husband and I have, NONE of them said Mama first :( lol

By the way, that is one PRECIOUS baby girl!!!
